Professional statement

Mamie Albritton is a multistate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a specialization in the treatment of individuals and couples struggling with sexual addiction, betrayal trauma and personality disorders. She found this niche through beginning her career at Pinegrove’s Gratitude Program, a residential treatment facility for men with compulsive sexual behaviors. Through working in this environment, she developed a passion for helping men and their partners live a more compassionate, empathetic, and authentic life. She also realized that she enjoyed working with individuals that struggle with personality features that impact their day-to-day function and finds great joy in assisting them to form healthy attachments and create positive interactions with their loved ones. As a clinician, she has chosen to work via telehealth for more accessibility for her clients.

She works with couples struggling with re-connection after betrayal and helps them achieve their goals in their relationship, whether that be appropriate co-parenting, reconnecting after betrayal, or the development of deeper intimacy. She has been trained in John Gottman’s method of therapy up to level II and combines her knowledge of the Gottman Method with emotionally focused therapy, providing helpful psychoeducation and tools to use in your relationship, while also creating deeper empathy and emotional communication.

Mamie Albritton’s treatment approach is client centered but directive. She offers what she hopes to teach her clients, empathy and compassion, along with direct communication and appropriate boundaries. She utilizes a variety of methods including experiential therapies, cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT) and narrative therapies. She utilizes these with the core focus being on the development of what she refers to as a “sense of self,” which means knowing who you are, what you value, and how to live within those parameters without addiction or mental health issues interfering with your life.

Message to clients

My hope for you in your journey to healing is that you are able to learn about who you are, your values, and your goals and develop comfort expressing your authentic self to others in a healthy and appropriate way. I enjoy helping people find their authentic selves through compassionate support along with direct feedback and the modeling of healthy boundaries and attachments. I have found that in supporting people that struggle with addiction and personality struggles that challenging and direct feedback offered in an empathetic environment can create lasting change. Our work will go beyond just the therapy room, with helpful assignments and skills practices outside of session to help move you towards the goals.

In my work with couples, I learned the value to teaching useful tools and skills to utilize outside of session, which helps join couples together against the problem, rather than creating a space where individuals feel attacked or defensive. I also utilize emotionally focused therapy to increase intimacy and connection between spouses, as it is safe to do so in relationships with limited or broken trust.

I love the work that I do and I am grateful to all of my clients, present and future, for taking the vulnerable step towards therapy. I look forward to connecting with you and helping you achieve your goals towards recovery, relational repair, and healing.
