Marian Couceiro is a Licensed Clinical Social located in Waldwick, NJ. Marian is passionate about bringing evidence-based therapy modalities to clients who are overwhelmed with the stress in their lives. Marian supports clients who develop anxiety because of low self-esteem, low self-worth, and a lack of confidence. She also works with women who find themselves emotionally fatigued after playing many different roles, including spouse or partner, mother, worker, and more. She is particularly interested in helping women who are growing their family such as pregnant or postpartum women.
Marian’s approach to therapy draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Solution-Focused Therapy. She teaches clients how to identify negative patterns in their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Clients then learn how to replace these habits with healthier alternatives. For clients who have painful memories of traumatic events, Marian helps them put these experiences in the past so that they can move forward in their lives. Marian also uses mindfulness-based practices in therapy with clients and teaches clients how to become more self-aware and present.
Marian earned her Master’s degree from Adelphi University. She believes that clients are the experts in their own stories, emotions, and goals, so she lets clients lead their sessions. She is a strengths-based therapy and highlights for clients their individual, unique strengths. Clients can then use these strengths to further their mental health journeys in an authentic, empowering way.
