Melodie works with adult women and is passionate about providing modern mental health care for the unique complexities they face. She has helped women with all kinds of concerns, including health difficulties like infertility and postpartum depression; anxiety; imposter syndrome and burnout; career navigation; loneliness and social isolation; self-esteem concerns; and lack of vitality and purpose.
Melodie specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR and ACT therapies are structured, targeted and they deliver. Melodie also infuses mindfulness and elements of Buddhist psychology into her clinical work and believes strongly in the value of this approach to the human condition. She is passionate about helping her clients improve their lives, as well as deepening openness and awareness of present moment experiences, and inviting compassion for the struggle that is to be a human in this beautiful, suffering world.
Zoom fatigue? Missing connection? Having difficulty finding time for yourself? Melodie’s clients receiving individual therapy may have the opportunity to participate in walk and talk sessions. If you are interested in walking therapy, she will assess your appropriateness for this modality during the initial consultation or intake appointment.
Melodie has worked in the field of women’s health for nearly 20 years. Counseling is not her first career (nor her second), and she brings with her a wealth of experience, having worked with many different people, in many different places. Melodie sees clients in her airy, spacious office in downtown Durham, via telehealth, or out in the wild for walk and walk.
Melodie has a particular passion for working with millennial women entering midlife and helping them navigate the great changes and transformations this time of life inevitably brings.
