Professional statement

Meredith Levy is a psychotherapist in West Los Angeles, California. Meredith has worked with many different populations, and feels most at home working in addiction, personality disorders, mood disorders and helping people improve executive functioning. She is committed to meeting clients where they are and believes in providing a very individualized and personalized treatment plan. Meredith has a hands-on approach and believes that accountability can be an essential part of change. Her approach is interactive and focused on making changes in order to have a better quality of life.

Meredith is trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) . DBT is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Zen Buddhism. CBT works with the interconnection of thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and the Zen piece focuses on acceptance AND change, as well as mindfulness.

Meredith worked with inner-city youth as a bi-lingual therapist for the Department of Mental Health in Los Angeles County. Not only has Meredith worked at a variety of different drug and alcohol treatment centers throughout California, she was also the co-founder of a large treatment facility in Northern California.

Meredith's extensive education and background as an attorney and an MBA gives her a unique perspective and a fresh approach to elevating personal growth. In addition, she is a certified yoga instructor and believes that the spiritual, physical and emotional aspects of the self are important components of the therapeutic process.

Message to clients

My motto in therapy, and in life, is "whatever works!" What works for us in certain times of our lives no longer continues to works, and we need to shift gears. I'm casual and transparent with my clients. I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is the most critical part of therapy. If there isn't a connection, it won't work. I will always let you know if believe we aren't a good fit, or if I believe someone else would be better suited to helping you with your particular struggles.

I've had quite a unique life and believe that this is part of what enables me to relate to almost anyone. I am straightforward and honest - not something everyone wants or likes! I will work as hard as you will and be as committed to making changes as you are!
