Professional statement

Michelle Hoffman is a licensed family therapist who has an office in South Natick, MA. She also is available to see clients online if safety is not a concern. Michelle works primarily with families who have teenagers who are struggling with managing their emotions and/or behaviors. She has a particular affinity for those families who have children who have been in therapy previously or who have attended programs such as PHPs or residential programs. She has a particular interest in teenagers who are finding it difficult to attend school on a regular basis.

Michelle's primary goal for every member of the family is safety, both physical and emotional. A family can't start to heal unless each member feels heard, understood, and supported and Michelle utilizes a combination of a strengths-based approach, along with movement, humor, and storytelling to achieve that. She works with family members to create strategies and tools that they are comfortable and confident using on a daily basis, not just those that they try in a therapy office.

Michelle is focused on helping her family develop achievable goals, along with a timeline for those goals, and benchmarks that can be met along the way to ensure that the goals are still in focus. Michelle encourages families to create goals that reflect their values, beliefs, and hopes for the future. Michelle believes that the ultimate goal of therapy is to not need therapy anymore and discourages families from striving for perfection.

Michelle is available for after school and evening sessions. Although Telehealth is technically an option, Michelle will not lead family therapy online if safety is a concern.
