Professional statement

Miguel is a community driven mental health therapist. He has experience working with clients who struggle with substances and with depression. Miguel has also worked extensively with clients with trauma and depression in rural areas. He also focuses on processing the impact of micro-aggressions and the harm that can come to those of the global majority communities. Clients that Miguel works with need a safe space for someone to hear them, validate them, advocate for them, laugh with them, celebrate them, and collaboratively work with them on their therapeutic goals.

He received his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He is also one of the first Latine adjunct professors at the University of Nebraska Counseling Department. Miguel serves in several board leadership positions advocating for equitable mental health services and for marginalized communities. Many of his sessions are working with teens, young adults, and adult clients. As well as bilingual couples therapy and interracial couples.

He focuses on person-centered techniques, with a warm, empathetic, and accepting approach. He works in a decolonized framework and is an eclectic therapist. He also provided EMDR therapy to process trauma.

Miguel provides telehealth therapy across rural and urban communities in Nebraska and Colorado using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform from the comfort of your own home.

Message to clients

I am excited and grateful for your willingness to start therapy. It can be scary and hard. We still have a lot of stigma and I hope to create a positive experience for you if this is your first time in therapy.

I hope my lived experience and my years of providing therapy across rural and urban areas can be impactful in your life. I do believe my background as a Salvadoran and Guatemalan therapist allows me to connect with the Latine and BIPOC community in a unique way.

Gracias por su interés en recibir terapia. Espero ser tu terapeuta y ayudarte a ti y a tu familia. Por favor contactame con cualquier pregunta.

Thank you for being interested in therapy. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to text or email me! I hope I can be a good fit for your mental health needs.
