Mischa is a licensed social worker. As a social worker, her orientation to therapy is to view the person as a whole. Rather than simply pathologizing a client, she recognizes clients are impacted by their environment, biology, psychology, social context, economic context, spirituality, and more. Mischa’s work experience has primarily centered on trauma and mood disorders, which are her specialties. The approaches she is trained and experienced in include dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal therapy, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing. Using a psychodynamic approach, she integrates elements of these approaches and others in order to tailor her therapeutic approach to each individual client.
Mischa believes it is vital to include her clients in the process by introducing approaches she thinks they may benefit from and asking for feedback. Ultimately, clients are the experts on their own experiences and lives.
