Professional statement

Nick Ferro is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Providence, Rhode Island. He sees children, adolescents, and adults. He provides treatment for anxiety disorders, depression, college mental health, stress management, and grief. He enjoys helping people who are navigating major life transitions and other challenges.

Nick uses an evidence-based approach that involves a thorough clinical assessment so that both the client and therapist understand the problem and the best course of treatment. He has expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He also has training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Nick’s therapeutic approach is goal-oriented and problem-solving, and can be brief therapy (8-16 sessions) or much longer if necessary.

Nick helps clients to relate to new perspectives and ideas that promote a greater sense of fulfillment and self-esteem. His approach is one of acceptance and support, but he finds that clients also value his direct and honest feedback.
