Professional statement

Rebecca Bruno is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Pasadena, CA. Rebecca supports both individuals and couples as they cope with anxiety, depression, grief, complex trauma, and general feelings of being emotionally overwhelmed. They are passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community, including those who are gender diverse. They also enjoy working with artists and other therapists who want to benefit from what therapy has to offer.

Rebecca’s therapy approach draws from Jungian psychology and somatic therapy perspectives. Clients develop a deeper understanding of their unconscious, which can give them insight into their distress. Rebecca sees each person’s unconscious, including their beliefs and instinctive behaviors, as innate wisdom that can be leveraged for healing. Rebecca incorporates activities in their sessions such as active imagination work, somatic tracking, dream tending, and grounding tools. Clients leave therapy with a holistic understanding of their mental health and wellbeing, feeling heard and seen for who they genuinely are.

Rebecca earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute where they serve as a Thesis Advisor and Teaching Assistant. Their style is warm, compassionate, and based in curiosity. They completed a four year training program in trauma-informed, depth, and analytic care. They are also involved in eco-activism and enjoy collaborating with others through art.

Message to clients

There is a tenet that says, most psychological wounds develop in relationship and therefore, most wounds must be healed in relationship. It can be deeply relieving to have a trusted ally and a safe space every week to be witnessed and reflected in what you are going through. The medicinal qualities of being seen, heard, and understood are remarkable. I believe the therapeutic relationship contains much complexity and magic allowing you to grow in the most heartening ways. My role is to walk with you and help shine a light on what needs tending within the temenos, or sacred space, of therapy. The therapeutic space is an environment that can hold profound feeling and a reconnection with soulfulness.

I know how hard it can be to lower your defenses and let someone in on what’s really going on inside as well as what you really want. Seeking help is a meaningful act in service of your care and I applaud you for taking this step. With whomever you chose to work, the therapeutic relationship is always a key factor in the success of therapy so I encourage you to find someone you feel you can begin to trust. I welcome you to set up a 15 minute phone consultation to see if we may be a good fit.
