Professional statement

Sage Goodwin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing individual and couples therapy. With couples, she uses a technique called Emotionally Focused Therapy, an approach that helps couples be more present with one another and move from a place of disconnection to deep connection.

Sage also enjoys seeing individuals for anxiety, depression, parenting skills, recovery from trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Life transitions may include job transitions, caring for aging parents, and trying to gain a deeper understanding of one's inner self.

Sage is dedicated to growing emotionally and spiritually within her practice, and aims to be by the side of her clients with deep empathy and support as they explore and heal. For clients who appreciate pet therapy, her dog Zoe can join the session to offer additional emotional support.

Message to clients

I always feel honored and privileged to be allowed into my clients-into their depths with their trust. I believe that learning to be a therapist is a never-ending process, and that if I am asking my clients to be curious, I need to practice that in my own life. I have extensive training in many areas and bring them all into my work, tailoring the experience to each individual and couple. I will continue to acquire more tools, refine those I have, and keep digging deeper in my practice to meet people where they are, to hear what they want, and to challenge them to move towards more fulfillment. I want everyone to feel I am walking alongside them, working toward healing and beyond.
For individuals: There are many reasons to begin therapy, but typically people come to see me when they are feeling stuck or when life’s challenges feel overwhelming. We can collaborate to find new ways to look at stuck places that are internal (emotional, trauma, destructive thoughts, anxiety, depression, etc.) and/or external (relationships, work, financial, etc.).
For couples: Relationships are hard work and we all need help at times in navigating through stuck places. I am excited about emotionally focused couples therapy because it provides a real, emperically validated road map to getting unstuck and moving towards a deeper connection with your partner.

"Sage is a gifted therapist/healer. She has a large toolkit with a big heart and is fierce, loving, spiritual, and capable."

Client testimonials

"Sage called exactly at the pre-established time, briefly explained the EFT therapy that she uses with her clients, and answered all of my questions and concerns before we scheduled our first appointment. I found her warm and professional in our first conversation, and I look forward to working with her."
- Zencare client • March 2021
"Sage was helpful and comfortable to speak with."
- Zencare client • August 2020
"As a couple, we have been seeing Sage for over a year, entirely over video therapy. Although daunting at first, we must say that this has been a really wonderful experience. Sage has the ability to read our emotions as if we were in the room with her. She can sense the tenseness when it exists, the calm as it settles in after a good repairing conversation and the changes in emotion that shift over the course of a session. It's truly amazing that even though we are thousands of miles away, we have someone that knows us so intimately, that we have only met over video, yet has helped us cultivate a relationship that is very deep and connected. Sage is that person! Over video she has created a safe space, allowed us to share ourselves - be vulnerable with her and with each other. We are so grateful to Sage, EFT and the video technology that has helped us reach such a loving place in our relationship."
- A couple • April 2020
"Sage is an extraordinary provider who I feel lucky to have worked with for the past 2 years. When I met Sage, I felt helpless to my depression, anxiety, and eating disorder. Sage’s thoughtful, kind, and nonjudgemental approach, rooted in a thorough understanding of her field, has helped me to find compassion towards myself as well as a sense of centeredness and hope. I have nothing but praise for this supremely capable, honest, and beautiful woman! I would highly recommend her to any friend or family."
