Sean Holt is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, based out of Austin who works with adults and teens. Many of those who are drawn towards Sean as a therapist are those who are seeking greater fulfillment and a greater enjoyment of life. Often times there are obstacles in our way that seem so difficult to overcome on our own or maybe we feel so stuck like we are having the same experience over and over again. In seeking a new experience and a new way of being there comes the decision of beginning the journey of healing. With the journey of healing comes new insight and awareness in to our understanding of self and a re-organization of how we are viewing ourselves, others, and the world.
Sean's approach to healing has a foundation with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Rogerian Person-centered Therapy. Person-centered Therapy places importance on the relationship between client and counselor and emphasizes genuineness and unconditional positive regard in the therapeutic relationship. Sean uses CBT to bring tangible skills and tools to treatment and emphasizes a dialogue on "meta-cognition," or in other words, the client will begin to think about the way they are thinking. Through these treatment methods the client can optimize their thoughts in a way that serves them in the most authentic way.
Sean is committed to seeing real, genuine results in the people he works with. His style is warm, inviting, calm, non-judgmental, creative, and fun. He enjoys the creative process and collaboration that comes with being in a therapeutic relationship with others. Sean's priority is building a foundation of self-love and kindness towards self then moving forwards from there in an authentic and creative way.
