Professional statement

Shirley Thompson-Parchment is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Certified Gambling Counselor based in the South Shore of Massachusetts, who works with individuals across the lifespan with a focus on addictions. Shirley has been working with client struggling with addictions, and trauma for the past 10 years. Many of her clients have found great success in their mission to recovery and, building an improved life. Shirley is very sensitive to client's dealing with unresolved childhood trauma, anxiety, grief and loss.

Shirley focused approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, and client centered approach, she also incorporates client's preferred spirituality. Shirley Is currently in training to become EMDR certified in order to better help the clients she serves. As a trauma informed therapist Shirley works to help client process through trauma, and find healthy ways to cope and manage life stressors.

Shirley's primary focus for her clients is ensuring the clients can reach the goals they set for themselves. She is interested in helping her clients see real progress and improvement in their lives. Shirley has a very authentic, interactive, and non-judgmental style of making the connection with her clients.

Shirley's main priority when starting with new clients is ensuring they feel safe, client's feel heard, and they are in control over the direction of their life, and where they desire to go. As a long standing and seasoned behavioral health provider. She offers telehealth, as well as in-person visits to clients who prefer a more intimate experience.

Shirley is invested in her practice as well as the relationships she establishes with her clients.

It is the one hour in your week where you can lay everything aside, and just focus on yourself, and becoming the best version of you. My hope is to help you identify what has been holding you back, and find the solutions to resolve these issues in order for you to move forward successfully in freedom from this things that have kept you stuck. You as the client have the right to guide your sessions through things that are important to you, and essential to your well being and growth.
