Vera McGrath is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in Carlsbad, CA. She enjoys working with young adults and adults, including parents. Many of Vera’s clients maintain busy lives made busier by their people pleasing tendencies and perfectionism. They feel like they’re constantly juggling competing priorities, though they never prioritize themselves. These tendencies may be a result of trauma or of major life events like infertility, pregnancy, and postpartum, and lead to excessive worry, frustration, and overwhelm.

Vera’s approach to therapy combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Clients learn more about their thought patterns, including the patterns that reinforce self-criticism. They also establish ways to ground themselves as they process through painful memories from their past. Vera creates an open space that feels safe to talk about relationships, stress, physical well-being, and anything else that’s happening in her clients’ lives.

Vera earned a Master’s degree from National University. She has extensive experience working in maternal mental health and with parents, teaching clients how to control their emotional reactions to establish safety and a sense of calm. Her style is down-to-earth and authentic, and she seeks to support clients as they find healing and restoration in their lives.
