Sharon Philbin started her career at St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing. Continuing to take courses throughout her career, Sharon received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008 from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (Summa Cum Laude) and a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from The University of Massachusetts Boston, College of Nursing in 2010. Sharon is certified  by the  American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Sharon has worked in various settings throughout her career as a nursing professional. Experiences include general medical surgical in hospital, pediatric burns, oncology, head/spinal cord injury, home care, home infusion, ADHD and community health and teaching. Sharon’s professional and life experiences contribute to her expertise and competence as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Sharon grew up in East Providence until her Junior year in high school when her family moved to the White Mountains of New Hampshire to run an inn and motel. This was a life changing experience which influenced Sharon's love for travel and experiencing new things. Sharon has traveled most of Europe and much of the United States. She returned to New England in order to raise her three children and live closer to family. Sharon's free time is spent with family and friends. She enjoys hiking, swimming, skiing, learning golf,  music,  concerts and traveling.

ADD / ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) – Interview and questionnaire of history based on DSM-V guidelines to diagnose for ADD / ADHD; subsequent visits for follow ups and ongoing evaluation; referrals for executive functioning challenges such as organizational issues or therapy
Anxiety – Medication management for generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks
Depression – Medication management for depression, including sleep and energy disruption, overall mood disturbance, inability to enjoy yourself, and difficulty being motivated, amongst many other symptoms

How do you know this therapist? I was a student of hers in two different areas which includes community health in an underserved area and behavioral health with care of ADHD/ ADD clients.

Why would you recommend this therapist? Ms. Philbin taught me a great amount about serving in with a family practice with multitude layers to the client and family as well as the community resources that are available. She also took me into her part time practice and taught me a great deal about diagnosing, testing, and follow up with the clients with ADHD and ADD across the life span.
