Perinatal Substance Use Recovery Group

Description

Struggling with addiction during the perinatal period can be a polarizing and isolating experience. Our society bases successful addiction treatment as maintaining abstinence and while that may be the end goal, the path to recovery is not always so linear. Working from a harm reduction model, this group offers a chance to navigate and establish your own road to recovery. Working with clients that struggled variations of addictions and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders vary in many ways but I have found intersect in dual diagnosis and the experiences these individuals have with facing shame, stereotyping, misunderstanding and rejection from society. A person-centered based group that incorporates treatments from CBT, DBT, psychodynamic and coping skills based modalities . Creating a safe, cohesive and affirming space for expectant or postpartum birthing persons struggling with the many layers of addiction and substance use behaviors.
