Taking the time and getting help to make sense of yourself, your reactions and feelings is an important aspect of self-care. We human beings need to understand ourselves in order to live happier healthier lives and have better relationships.

We spend a great deal of time attempting to do that, often however, in ways that hurt us more than help. For instance, comparing ourselves to others, evaluating ourselves as good or bad, winners or losers, right or wrong, etc. are two examples of this. We can't understand ourselves through critical self-talk. I can help you learning new ways to make sense of yourself--your feelings, reactions and needs, etc. In sessions I am dedicated to engage you and any and all of your concerns deeply and empathically.

My faith in the therapeutic process is founded in the belief that we each have the ability to access more of what can provide comfort and clarity in our lives. Intention, curiosity and a devotion to a greater happiness are the basic tools needed to kindle profound change. Experiencing 'stuck-ness,' repetitive negative patterns, self-doubt, loss and fear can make common obstacles seem insurmountable, and cloud the path to our hopes for the future. With a non-judgmental and alert presence, the vague often becomes lucid, and confusion can give way to acceptance and understanding—with ourselves and towards others.
My interest is in simplicity of being, and in cultivating what we do that is of service, while looking with a spirit of inquiry at whatʼs not working. What is the relationship of form to function in our lives, and how can we manifest a more purposeful design? It is my most sincere hope that I can aid in supporting a natural awareness that is the key to living a fulfilled expression of our own authenticity, integrity and joy.

In the words of Carl Jung "There's no coming to consciousness without pain." Entering psychotherapy is, literally, life saving.  Many of us function "in the dark" for years, going through the motions of life without any deeper sense of meaning. This absence of meaning results in an "unlived life" of emotional distress and a variety of symptoms.  Many continue to suffer because they fear another sort of pain... that involved with the process of getting to truly know oneself.  The difference is that the pain involved with coming to consciousness is simply part of the journey, not the destination. As a psychotherapist influenced by the work of Carl Jung, I can help you find meaning in your life.  My experience includes work with individuals who have struggled with trauma, identity and a range of symptoms that inhibit learning about one's true self.  As Jung wrote "The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are."

My treatment approach involves exploring the unconscious. As the unconscious becomes conscious, there is a gradual process of beginning to know one's true "self." The unconscious expresses itself in a number of ways, such as through dreams, physical symptoms, intense emotions and daydreams. We will explore the meaning of these experiences in order to obtain a clearer picture of what the unconscious is trying to make known.

At the heart of my work is my collaboration with others to develop a valued, meaningful life. A life that is lived with integrity, curiosity, joy and meaningful relationships with others and self. There is no life without experiencing pain and loss. As we work together we learn to embrace our suffering as well as fully experience our joy and happiness.

It is my belief that the therapeutic relationship is sacred and instrumental to the healing process. As we work together I cultivate openness, curiosity, and warmth--meeting you where you are. Each individual has the potential to heal and experience freedom. My role is to support and guide this sacred process in a trusting and safe environment. As Rumi said “The wound is the place where the Light enters you”. I will be your ally as we uncover and heal your wounds and blockages, unstick repetitive patterns, set up healthy boundaries, navigate new territories, and realize one’s potential.

My goal from the very first session is to help you see and feel something new that you didn’t fully put together, and to help you see the artistic connections your psyche has been waiting for you to make.

We’ll do that with freewheeling metaphors and images that help you illuminate what has been happening inside that’s been so confusing. As a big fan of movies, music, and literature, I’ll draw on references far and wide to help us connect to the heart of the matter for you.

In the process, you’ll come away forgetting about your problems and marveling at how much fun it is to discover new possibilities together.
