Professional statement

Dr. Leah Rubin is a psychologist with specialized training in the treatment of OCD, anxiety (social anxiety, GAD, panic) and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Leah's practice is located in Queens and Long Island and she sees clients virtually from all over NYS. Much of Leah's practice includes young adults and early career professionals motivated to approach internal struggles that are getting in the way. Leah received her Doctorate in Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. She has extensive training in both hospital and outpatient/private practice settings.

Leah completed a year-long, specialized, outpatient rotation at the OCD center where she trained under leading experts in the field of OCD. There, she worked with adolescents, adults and pregnant and postpartum women struggling with OCD. Leah utilizes exposure and response prevention, the gold standard in the treatment of OCD.

Leah also trained on the women's and perinatal inpatient unit at ZHH (LIJ), helping women navigate vulnerable moments along their motherhood journeys. Leah is dedicated to helping women and their partners navigate all aspects of reproductive mental health including coping with infertility, loss, adjusting to parenthood and addressing perinatal depression and anxiety.

Message to clients

As humans, we have seasons where we feel lost or in pain. I offer compassionate, evidence-based therapy. As a psychologist, I see my clients as partners in the process of healing. I respect the wisdom that you bring into the room, your understanding of yourself and your history-- and make room for the pieces of yourself that you find difficult to understand. I aim to build on this insight and to utilize my expertise to help you live a vibrant life.

My approach is present-focused, active and tailored to your individual needs. I am anchored in the third wave CBT tradition and utilize exposure therapy when appropriate as well as mindfulness and values-based work to build meaning and reduce suffering. It has been humbling to be a part of my clients' journeys as they break out of crippling patterns and open up possibilities in their lives that before seemed impossible. Above all, I work to create an environment where you can feel connected to me and to the work we are doing together.
